The Bentley - Sydney - 2012 Summer Menu

The Bentley - Sydney - 2012 Summer Menu

I recently went to Bentley to celebrate my birthday with my friends. I was extremely excited to try the tasting menu as I had missed the chance the last time.

Yes, who would of through you can miss the chance to try it when you were there... long story short, my friend and i was both running late for the reservation. Mind you i was already 30 mins late but my friend rocked up 1.5 hrs late so we where told tasting menu was out of the question as they were fully booked we gotta give the table up.

Well , this time around my friends and i was 30 mins early :)
For those who haven;t been to Bentley or you are looking to visit, its a very cosy restaurant which has great fusion french food ,elegant presentation of dishes as edible art to the combination of flavors and textures.
It is great just to go there to the bar for a drink and catch up with friends.

The Bentley

TASTING MENU
MUD CRAB with Sweetcorn, Ham & Prawn

Traditionally you would not think of ordering a crab and only seeing this lovely artistic work of art, BUT .. It defiantly is a small deceiving package.
The crab is cooked to perfection and creamy with the sweetcorn really bring out the seafood of the dish. Yum.........

KING FISH with Roe, Juniper & Baked Potato Broth

The king fish is of course cooked to perfection  which from looking at the dish you would not have thought. Simple but very tasty, the best part as the mouse on the side which i have yet to figure out what it is...

JAMON POACHED TUNA with Khol Rabi, Squid Ink & Black Sausage Crumbs

all i can say is ... its a must try ..

BALMAIN BUG with Lamb Sweetbread, Black Bean & Coconut Curd

I am usually not a fan for Balmian bugs , not due to the fact that they are not a wonderful seafood but everywhere i have been seem to over cook the Balmain bugs which makes it tough and chewy. its like eating a piece of gummy which is not quite tasteful.

Bentley has definitely cooked it to perfection , it was awesome with the combinations of the black bean and coconut curd it was definitely unforgeable. Who would have though Black bean would taste good in a westerner dish. I personally have also associated the black beans to Asian dishes and was not too sure on the favor combination  but it works like a charm on the plate

PORK CHEEK with Fennel, Black Garlic & Calamari

What more can i say  to this soft pork cheek bone...
it was so good that i cut it with a butter knife and it just melted.

FILLET OF BLACK ANGUS BEEF with Jerusalem Artichoke, Rosa Radish and Burdock

BLOOD PEACH with Sesame Meringue, Nougat & Apricot Sorbet

The Sesame Meringue and Apricot Sorbet was the hero of this dish and was a perfect dessert to finish dinner with on a lovely summer night. It was not to heavy and the combination of the taste and textures where very enjoyable.

 Coffee time

Although Bentley is a eatery and bar , they make a fine coffee for any coffee lover.
I think those who love their coffee would also share my horror when you order a coffee before work and its burnt and bitter leaving a horrible after taste. All you can do it add sugar and hope to god that tomorrow is a better day for the bloody barista, or the coffee fairy pay them a visit.

Lucky for all us coffee drinker , I would like to let you know that every time i have to Bentley for coffee it has never failed me, the coffee is always smooth and creamy and all you taste is the lovely coffee aroma .
So if you are looking to catch up with friends for a coffee Bentley is a good place to hang up and catch up.

Lucky for me ... the Managers of Bentley also gave us complementary honeycombs  <3

The honeycomb was very rich and for such a small parcel really pack a punch , with the sea salt on top, Yes, i said sea salt ...it really create a very dreamy combination to enhance the favors of the rich smooth chocolate and honeycomb
